I’m pleased to announce that The Book of Isaias has been included in the Social Justice Booklist published by the National Network of State Teachers of the Year.
This network is made up of teachers who’ve been honored as the best in their respective states.
Here’s what one of the editors of the list told me:
“We surveyed our members for the titles that they use in their classrooms and The Book of Isaias: A Child of Hispanic Immigrants Seeks His Own America was one of the titles chosen. Congratulations, the most highly recognized teachers in the country are recognizing your book as a valuable classroom addition.”
I took a look at the list, and I’m happy to say The Book of Isaias is in some good company – the list includes recent masterpieces such as Enrique’s Journey by Sonia Nazario as well as tried-and-true classics such as The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
I’m honored to be on the same list. You can read the entire list here.
